I read the original post, and had nothing to add of value to the person asking the question, so I didn’t feel compelled to reply. My own dad has been gone from this earthly existence now these past 14 years. And had about 5 years of decline with Alzheimer’s. It gave him a degree of comfort being able to go out to the shed and see his old equipment. Climb on a tractor seat and remember times gone by. During these times he could retell stories of planting and harvest seasons from 30-50 years ago. Talk about folks that were neighbors and relatives that had passed before I was born, but couldn’t recall his own age, or what he had for breakfast. It was fun watching him come to life and relive his past, and he really enjoyed doing it. And the old tractors and buildings were the vehicle that could take him there. We never touch anything till after dad was gone. I was able to keep some of my dad’s stuff, and I can almost hear his voice when I see one of his old tractors. Old junk means different things to different people.

After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
