I have a customer with a 4430 Powershift with a 466. He loves it, said it makes it the tractor it should have been. It has had the 466 since it was almost new. He said the original 404 started leaking oil from a porous casting behind the A/C compressor during planting. When the dealer tried to warranty the engine, a dealer in Chicago had stolen his serial number, apparently to replace an engine in another tractor, JD would not replace the engine as they said it had already been done. Since he was stuck paying, and the dealer had a 466 in stock, that was the quickest way back to the field. Said he is still mad about paying, but it made it a better tractor.
