Last week I dropped a real big dead ash tree. When it landed the top exploded into small pieces too small to skid to a landing. I hauled out the logs and three big limbs that were still in tact. I decided to block the small round limbs where they layed. I have a smaller trailer that I haven't used for a while, and decided that I could load all the small rounds into it to use for firewood in out fireplace before I have to light the boiler for the main heating season. The trailer is small enough that I can back it into my cellar, and I can just load the wood onto my dumb waiter to raise it to the main floor where the fireplace is. The wood from the Ash top didn't fill the trailer, but there were plenty of other windfall tops and small dead trees along the woods roads to finish off the load. The fireplace should keep us comfortable into November with the wood in this load. -----Loren
Pictures of the tree down.
Sat our son and DIL came up and we dropped and split another dead Ash so they would have some wood when they go camping.-------Loren
