Hello again from the Corn Borer. I saw a post in this forum that was from a person who saw an article in the Successful farming magazine that featured his restored D John Deer tractor that was purchased by the government for corn borer control. In that article it mentioned that the government purchased 444 D John Deere tractors and 444 15-30 Deering McCormicks to control the corn borers that I mentioned. It stated that the tractor had to have a power take off shaft built into the rear housing because the corn shredder was driven by a power take off shaft. I have a question to anyone who has restored these tractors. How much pitting is acceptable in the sleeves that are used?? I have sleeves with some very minor pitting. They have been professionally honed but did not remove all the minor pitting. I'm sending photos of the hood with the some of the wording that I could make out. I will try to get a better pic of the whole wording
