From your description, you are having the same problems I had when I got my JD790. It takes a little practice, but you will finally get it. If you are having trouble digging in the undisturbed dirt, get a tooth bar for the loader bucket. Its different as night and day as far as digging goes. You can get them from your your dealer, mine was around $250. If you haven't found it, a good web site for compact tractors is www.tractorbynet.com. Wish you luck with your JD790,
