I've never seen a shaft with severe seal area wear yet that it needed replaced. Your tractor has the seals in the adapter, NOT in the pump pilot tube like most Stanadyne/RoosaMaster pumps have. Are you getting fuel into the oil? That could be the seals. They get hard and can crack over time, then leak. When the pump needs repair THAT will also make the seals leak do to higher than normal housing pressure. ANYTIME I repair a 361/407 pump I INSIST the drive adapter is brought too so I can replace those seals. Also, white smoke is more likely a low compression issue not related to the seals. Only shafts I've ever replaced are shafts that have broken due to a seized pump hydraulic head. Several shafts are used, the number is stamped on the pump tang drive end.
