Dieselmatic on a Volvo road tractor

I was wondering how the dieselmatic works, it is an electronic engine and have no button on the dash to engage the either injector, I wonder how this works if it is actuated by the computer on the engine when it is cold. I know it is not working now because the canister is empty. Anyone have any info on this? Thanks John Mann
