Hello all. I have been looking for a dozier for awhile for land cleanup. There is IH TD6 62 with a blade and a forestry cage. It's near home and the seller will deliver for free. Motor runs great. Good oil pressure, runs cool but it has a few issues I'm concerned about.
It will go forward and backward fine.
It only will steer to the left.
Depress the right break nothing happens.
He knocked off the exhaust and air breather with a stump that rolled over the blade. He replaced the exhaust and replaced the breather with a K&N filter.
I have no experience with crawlers and only started my research after watching the dozer run yesterday.
I did not pull back on both levers to see if the clutches are disengaging so it's possible that a clutch is stuck. The levers have a lot of free play.
I downloaded a manual on track inspection and plan to go back to inspect the tracks today. They are full of dried red clay and have a bit of slack.
The hydraulic lines are old and need replacing but it held the blade up for 5 min without bleeding down so I assume that it doesn't have a bleed down problem.
The owner thinks it only needs a brake adjustment but claimed it stopped turning right after sitting up for awhile so I wonder if there is a clutch issue.

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
