John, Every tractor mentioned is a wonderful tractor! I have no preferred brand (we own several colors), but a couple things to consider; 3pt hitch, handieness, and the ability to do that 1 BIG job that you'll need done! The smaller Farmalls and Deeres usually need special mounted or tow behind implements, so I would eliminate them. The Cockshutt 20 is a great tractor if it has a 3pt, and you have a parts supplier handy. Of all the tractors I have used or owned, I would recommend an N series Ford for most chores, it has 3pt, is very handy, easily stored, and will do much more work than usually given credit for. It has 1 BIG down fall; if your gonna be headed down hill with much at all behind it, get something bigger! For my money, the handiest antique tractor for small, medium, and some larger chores, is a Farmall Super C with quick hitch. This hitch easily and cheaply converts to 3 pt. Very maneuverable, STRONG, good parts availability, and not too big. Of course 200's and 230's qualify too. Another tractor that is beginning to impress me more and more is the Allis Chalmers D10 and D12, although a good one will cost considerably more than a Super C, and parts are a little more challenging. After numerous dead ends for a replacement carb, I went to work fixing mine.I soldered new floats on the float arm, they came from an old motorcycle carb, replaced the packing on the throttle shaft with o-rings, cut new ga
