Maybe broke the bolt that holds it and the camshaft sprocket or gear in place. If it did break off and there is no mark on the fuel pump arm that would be quite odd. I have never had one of those engine open but I would be surprised if IH didn’t use at least a 7/16 if not a 1/2 in. bolt in there most every part of their gas engines were over built compared to other brands. I have NO IDEA if this is a correct part for the engine you are working on, see link. Word of caution is if it is not in place you better know for sure that it has room in there to drop in the pan. If not you may chew up or break other stuff in there if you run it that way. Plus if the bolt broke it holds the cam sprocket or gear in place. Maybe you should post this on the Red Power forum seems to be some IH truck folks in the know there.
