Look at the original intent of JROTC, it should be mandatory in every school, even more so now the way things are headed. We are too far in another direction from practical education about so many things, and the results of this speak for themselves.
I disagree with the run and hide, you are a sitting duck, when you need to be an opportunist to better your situation any way you can. Cowering under a desk waiting to be shot does not accomplish anything helpful. Being trained not to panic, but to think clearly under pressure will go a lot further.
