Had a few dry days so I thought I might be able to cut the last of my oats, but that didn't work out so good. Didn't seem bad when I walked out there, but as you can see it was not good.
So then I decided fix the spindle on the plow. It broke this spring and I just welded the piece back on, that lasted for spring but broke earlier this fall again. So I bought a used hub and spindle at the salvage yard and welded it on. First I cut off the old.
Then I v'd the new spindle so I got a good weld.
I welded it with 7018.
Then I added a couple gussets, got a little carried away with them, but they didn't look that big til I was done.
Fit just fine once it was Cool.
Tried plowing but it was too wet. So I worked on one of the ditches. I've been working on it all along, getting it to drain more each time. It finally got so I could get at it with the tractor to dig it down.
Only got the old DC stuck once. Lol. Should drain good now. When it dries out I'll fix it up some more and level off the piles.
That done left only one thing left to work on, tearing down the old fence around the cattle yard. That has got to be about the worst job there is.
Rolling up old wire is the worst of the worst job. Got done with all but one short side. At least it's not covered in brush.
Took a couple pics of the neighbor chopping corn. He had 2 front assist JD tractors on the chopper. The bigger one is a 7410, not sure what the other is. He's been fighting that field all weekend.
He got that planted late and it froze before it got ripe. Now he has to get it off before it gets too dry. Supposed to get 2" of rain again tomorrow.
Well that's it for this weekend. If we don't get the two inches and it dries some I may try to cut that oats next weekend, otherwise I'll get the combine switched over to corn and start on that.

Today's Featured Article - A Question for Dads This recent topic from the Tractor Talk discussion board is being highlighted because it is an awesome display of the caliber of individuals that have made this site their own. The young person asking questions received positive feedback and advice from total strangers who "told it like it is" with the care many reserve for their own kids. The advice is timeless... so although it isn't necessarily antique tractor related, it will be prominently displayed in our archives to honor those who have the courage to ask and those who have the courage to respond in an honest, positive manner.
