I had some unpicked sweet corn in the garden that ripened. I have an antique corn sheller I used to shell almost a 5 gallon bucket full, at a leisurely pace it took about an hour. While doing this I wondered who bought this sheller new- when- and was it actually used for livelihood? It made me think of the old tv "Gunsmoke" shows with farmers living in shacks with chickens scavenging around the buildings. Years ago my dad made a mill to grind corn and mix with birdseed which I plan to do with the corn.
