Yea, it was a nice relaxing way to spend a Sunday. The ground broke far easier than I'd expected it to. Hopefully it'll work down to a nice seedbed. And yes, it was a good thing that I didn't through that little spring away. I think it may have originally been a Cub governor spring, but whatever it was it sure worked a treat on the old #52 plow. We had some rain last night, so I'll let it dry out a day or three before I go back with the Cub and spring-tooth harrows. I think it can at least handle six feet of spring-tooth in that ground, but it sure struggled with the disk. Guess we'll see a little later in the week.

Today's Featured Article - Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
