Ferguson and Ford both recommended using the same weight as in the engine. Basically 30 wt in the summer and 20 wt in the winter. If the oil is too thin for the weather, it will be sucked thru the filter material and into the engine, if too heavy, it restricts the amount of air the engine gets. 10 wt is much too thin. As Rod MI said, some get away with 10w30. Your decision.
