Just to be clear, the prefix should be "https://", not "https./".
YT, just like pretty much every other site on the web, uses HTTPS. So if you're able to get here, then HTTPS is working. HOWEVER, HTTPS does not dictate the particular encryption scheme in use. HTTPS can use SSL or TLS encryption, but SSL and the older versions of TLS have been deprecated and shouldn't be used. Most sites run some version of TLS, but the sites you're trying to access may still be running SSL. Firefox by default has SSL turned off, but you can turn it back on if you REALLY need to access a particular site.
To turn on SSL in Firefox, do the following: 1. In the URL bar, enter "about:config". 2. In the about.config Search field, enter "security.tls". 3. Double-click on the line "security.tls.version.min". 4. In the "Enter integer value" dialog, change "1" to "0" and click "OK".
Note that SSL has been turned off in Firefox for a very good reason: It is no longer considered to be secure.
