Totally agree with the more fuel supposedly less polution theory . BULL Get a cam: dual patern , means more exhaust duration than intake , lots of good aftermarket ones out there , with a duration of 265 to 270 degrees , you won't know its the same truck . Another thing you can do is change heads to the older heavier heads from the early '70s . Two good casting numbers are 487 or 993 , that's the last three digits of the casting nos on top of the head , they have 1.94 intake and 1.50 exhaust valves . They have bigger valves than your newer heads , they breath better and cool better also are a few pounds heavier and way more resistant to cracking from overheating . If you ever rebuild the engine put flat top pistons in , that will raise your compression to upper 8's and give you more power . I have done this to several 350's in the past and you won't know it is the same engine . Have two 4x4 pickups setup like that now . I use late 60's stock intakes and q-jet carbs from same time , I know everybody hates q-jet carbs but I've had good luck with them. If you have any questions post or email me I'll be glad to help . The draft forces are
