Answers to some questions from earlier.I am no longer working for the custom guy I worked for in '18. Liked the work, met a lot of neat people, saw a lot of pretty country. But the long daily commute, the 70 dollars gas weekly were major 'downers'.Plus(more importantly)I didn't want to be gone all day,so far away from my wife every day.She has some serious health issues. However,I stillhelp him from time to time. He told me I was the the best helper he ever had. This year('19) I rented some ground and farmed at home again.Ended up growing hemp on all of it.A local guy came to me and asked me to grow it for him. No expence on my part.Just rent my ground and pay me for the labor and machine work. Planted it with my JD#71 corn planter.Bought blank plates and drilled them. Put a unit on a stand and played with it to get the correct seed drop(30" apart). However, probably wont do it again. Wont elaborate here.Did the usual/normal amount of custom work(plowing, ground work,'marking'(renewing, makeing new water corrugates/furrows) fields I also baled a lot of hay this summer.over 12,000 bales. at a buck a bale, pretty good wages. also did a lot of cutting and some stacking.Did a bit less mechanicing. That's OK,I tired of wrench turning for other people.T bought a motorcycle. Yamaha virago(Vtwin, looks and sounds like a Harley),1993,less than 6000 miles. looks, drives like a new one.Love it. Didn't know I was 'biker trash'! :)Added two tractors. A Ford 961. Bought cheap to speculate(double/triple my money),and an 8N Ford, late model, side dristributor. Ive always wanted an 8N,grew up on one.Was part of a 3way trade,to help a cousin sell a tractor, and another friend Get into something bigger. When the "smoke cleared" I have less than $500 in it.Gonna keep this one..Last month I bought a '68 JD55 combine(SB,cornspecial)/313 corn head.Ended up cutting up the old round back.(see my post on the combine forum).Just sunday I was reelected as vice president of our tractor club(ThunderMountain Flywheelers). All in all, been a good year, and a warm fall so far.Looking foreward to next year. Good to be back on YT.

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
