Early on working at an university heavy equipment garage, they taught me to solder and shrink wrap all connections. I still do that today. They last for years as you dont have to worry about corrosion as much and they dont pull out.
As a coach of a FIRST High school robotics team I have learned that it is imperative. To solder all joints whenever possible. I have come to love using the anderson powerpole connectors, 15, 30, & 45 amps. Put a dab of dielectric grease on the connector and you will never have a problem again. I crimp, solder, and assemble. They are great for lights, trailers, harnesses, etc

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
