Europe has very stringent road width limits, 3 or 3.5 meters (10 to 11.5 feet) max depending on the country. This means that most European implements are narrower than what we would be used to in the USA but they typically do more work in one pass. For example, a power harrow can be mounted on the front hitch and a planter on the back and in one pass go from a rough plowed field to seeds in the ground. To do the same thing here we might have a pass with a disk, a pass with a field cultivator, then finally a pass with the planter. In other words, in North America we try to maximize productivity with wider implements but in Europe they more focus on doing as many tasks per pass as possible since they can't get larger implements down the road.
