I posted this down on the MF board, but thought it might get more views here.
Friend has this MF 253 that bought recently. Steering problem. It would steer some when he bought it, but has been getting worse quickly. Pump is full of fluid. Cranked it up yesterday and it steered hard to the right, but would not steer back to the left. Used the loader to pick up front wheels. If you try to turn left and then let go of the steering wheel a second and try to turn again, it will come back to the left. Just sitting and running, the steering wheel moves very slightly back and forth by itself. Shut the tractor off and the steering wheel still moved back and forth slightly by itself. Could it be air in the system? Temps here have been in the 50's and 60's for a week. What fluid is used in this? Any ideas would be appreciated. Richard in NW SC

But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
