On off-road equipment I wouldn't worry too much - I wouldn't take them on the highway if they're over 10 yrs old - if you're heavy or towing I'd back that to 4yrs.
Never used to be a problem but I've seen the belts let go at speed -my nice looking old truck has a big dent behind the rear tire on the lower bed panel from a belt/tread letting go.
