We live on a fairly busy county road, about 20 years ago we had 6-8 inches of snow, had a warm day, almost 40, put a hard crust on the snow, then day or two later got 4-5 inches of light knowable snowmelt next day had 20-30 mph wind, I watched the road in front of our house drift shut in about an hour. I go to town and buy 10 gallons of kerosene to heat the shop and 10 gallons of tractor gas. By the time I get home first car is stuck, lady is using our phone to call a tow truck. A 2wd Ford Ranger spins to a stop just feet from our driveway. Guy picking up his Wife from 3rd shift job, he only had a few 1 Dollar Bill's, I pulled him out with my tractor and told him to keep his money. I pulled 6-8 other cars out of the ditch, even my driveway. Finally this jerk in a Coupe DeVille Cadillac spins out 100 feet from my driveway, walks up to me and asks how quick I can pull him out. I'm not sure I could even budge him, I get done with the last car before him, The guy starts saying "Your just doing this to use your old tractor, your having fun with this, Bet you'd do this for free." I said, No, I'm doing this because it's 4-5 hour wait for a tow truck, County won't plow the road with all the stuck cars. A tow truck is $100 minimum, I'm O-K with $10. Son hooked the chan, My little tractor, Farmall Super H with weights & chains spun a lot pulling the Caddy thru a foot of snow, but the jerk didn't pay anything. I put the tractor away. County has put up snow fence every winter since then.
