Mr. Joyus, you need your head inspected. If you put 12 volt on the recommended six volt starter it will spin over too fast when engaging the flywheel, thus, grindage off of the ring gear teeth and self distruction of the starter drive will occur.
Your machine must have a starter wore out so bad that it takes 12 volt to get it to turn over. Rebuild your starter mister!!!!
