I have a Husqvarna 2 blade 46" Hydrostat (only way to go on a lawn mower of the type) for my conventional which is my wet weather mower, big box version. I like it because it will cut wet grass and is hard to clog up due to the 2 rather than 3 blades and sweeping, tall, stamped steel discharge area.
When I bought it it had a Kohler Courage single 20 HP and when it vibrated itself to death, including cracking the main casting (made an X-Kohler buyer out of me), I replaced it with a 20 hp BS V twin which has been nice. Other modifications include soft seat springs (Troy #732-05182A...but Cub Cadet also uses them), replacing all 4 tires with soft sidewall 2 ply Snow Studded tires for traction on pond banks and soft ride, and a Bungie Cord on the rubber discharge chute to suspend it up off the ground for cleaner discharging.
At my coaching, neighbor bought a newer one with the 22 HP V twin Hydro (not using my mods) and it has way more power than you need.
The soft spot isn't really soft but you need to realize that the deck is attached to the main frame with welded brackets. If you go around banging into things, or slamming it against the bed of a P/U while loading with straight loading ramps....like another neighbor did with his, you will need to get out your welder....but that would be with any type mower of the sort.
Personally I prefer the stamped steel decks over the fabricated like my ZTs of different brands, even with three blades (retired L110 JD example) as the interiors are smooth, flowing surfaces and wet grass exits much easier without piling up, requiring me to jack up the mower and wash it out every time I use the mower (wet grass) which is a Pain for me, even with making and buying several "gadgets" supposedly to make the job easier, ramps, both built and bought and finally just getting out my 24 hp tractor/loader and a chain and raising it...in a different location each time to prevent the goo pile up.

Today's Featured Article - Listening to Your Tractor - by Curtis Von Fange. Years ago there was a TV show about a talking car. Unless you are from another planet, physically or otherwise, I don’t think our internal combustion buddies will talk and tell us their problems. But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
