The HST is the weak Link if you try to do anything with mower except mow.
A guy ruined his 25 hp hushy varnie in about 300 hrs pulling a trailer behind his.
My old JD garden tractor has an HST filter and a place to add and change HST oil.
I look for cast iron front axle and electric clutch for mower.
I have changing the 2 belt tranny type mowers. I usually have to grow new skin if I don't wear gloves. Sometimes invent new words too. The upside is you can repair the tranny better than you can a craftsman HST. Some cheap JD
Have a single belt going to an actual gearbox in transaxle. They jurk when starting, but last longer.
I have all the mowers I talked about above. I love my 20 year old JD garden tractor the best for ride and durability. It also has tractor bar tires and a 30 inch tiller 48 inch mower. George
