I’m trying to get this old 5 wheel 626 running again. It’s sat in the weeds for the last 5 years but surprisingly it’s not in bad shape. I parked it because it wouldn’t shift int gear and had a lot of loose parts. I had a newer Gator so it wasn’t a priority.
The engine runs and everything shifts fine now, just a pin fell out.
The only problem is the centrifugal clutch on the engine isn’t working. As the speed increases the dogs are free and will move outward when the cap is off. But we can’t make it slide in on the shaft when the cap is on.
Looking at the picture the triangle bushing with the three bolt holes is what the cover / cap attaches too. When it speeds up the three dogs move out and push against the inside of the cap pushing that whole assembly/ sheave inside and tightening the belt. So the triangle bushing and the dog / sheave assembly side are two separate pieces? Should we put a puller on the triangle piece to try and get to the moving sheave / dog assembly part.
Kinda frustrating to be stumped by this. We’ve been heating and tapping a bit but really don’t want to damage the side of the sheave.

This story is about the day my Grandfather Brown (true name) decided along with my parents to purchase a new Ford tractor. It wasn't really new except to us. The year was about 1967 and my father found a good used Ford 601 tractor to use on the farm instead of "Bob", our old mule. Now my grandfather had had this mule since the mid 40's and he was getting some age on him. S
