I'll say the same thing that I did in that one: Old equipment prices reflect the state of the farming economy more than anything. Right now the farming economy is in the toilet. Old equipment prices are high because... cheaper than a new one!
If we had $8 corn, farmers would be snapping up those brand new "can't fix 'em yourself" tractors by the boatload, and not even giving a second thought about it. Who wants to rattle around in a dusty 40 year old tractor when you can have a nice new one that's clean, quiet, smooth, heated massage seats, and practically drives itself? Who cares that I can't fix it myself? With $8 corn I can trade it before the warranty is up.
