The over/direct and under/direct Sherman's weren't used after the early '50s, although one could have been retrofitted to this tractor. If it was factory, or added by the dealer when new, it would be a combo (over/direct/under drive) or reverser. The combo is far more likely. The reversers were used almost exclusively on dedicated loader tractors and forklifts. The combo had a distinct shifter handle shape.
