Our nearest coop is over 35 miles one way and a steep mountain between with crooked roads between us and them.
The next coop is probably 60 miles in another direction and mountains with crooked roads between us and them.
The third coop is even further, probably 70ish miles away. Again - a mountain with crooked roads between.
Between us and these coop areas, there are lots of "horse quality hay", orchard grass, fescue and weeds. Some of it good, a lot of it is really bad hay. The only way we can attract customers to make the journey to our farm (and pay a higher price than the other farms they pass on their way to us) is grow top quality, forage tested hay. We grow timothy, teff and some mixed grass (as our fields age).
