The only engine swaps that i have done tyhat have been pretty easy were done on oliver tractors , did the 4 BT a 5.9 and the crown jewel was the 8.3 in a 2150 fwa Only engine mounts to build and on the 8.3 some oil pan mod.'s to clear the ft. drive shaft and a big check book . No machining a flywheel just write the check and bolt it on , no problem with engine fan just unbolt and move the fan hub up to the top holes , line the engine up by using the PTO shaft and build the mounts inplace . Over the years swaping out this engine to something else was fun at the time but as you age it becomes a lot of work to get them done correctly . I think the hardest was the 460 into my 78 F 250 . Yea it made a real truck out of it but i used the wrong engine and built it wrong for the time . I built it to 1970 spec.s in 1980 and a 11 to 1 engine days were numbered , first problem was finding or building a starter that would turn it over hot next was recurving the dist. making up and exhaust system that was neet and tucked up in and around the transfer case on the drivers side and time . Between the machine shop assembly mock up mounts drive line alignment getting the oil filter to clear the frame and ft rear end i had three weeks in doing this with lots of out go and no income when i should have been making money instead of spending money . Yea it was fun it ran extremely well and even did good on gas mileage . Ran it till the transmission took the ft. clutch pac out and had no time to work on my own stuff and found it easier to just go buy something and move on.

Today's Featured Article - New Hitches For Your Old Tractor - by Chris Pratt. For this article, we are going to make the irrational and unlikely assumption that you purchased an older tractor that is in tip top shape and needs no immediate repairs other than an oil change and a good bath. To the newcomer planning to restore the machine, this means you have everything you need for the moment (something to sit in the shop and just look at for awhile while you read the books). To the newcomer that wants to get out and use the machine for field work, you may have already hit a major roadblock. That is the dreaded "proprietary hitch". With the exception of the
