I am installing some new disk openers and bearings on my John Deere double disk fertilizer openers. These use the same bearing as the seed openers, but use a thick cast bearing hub. There are 6 long rivets holding the blade and the hub together. Ground the rivet heads off and tried to drive the rivets out of the hub with a punch, but no luck. Just wondering if anyone has replaced either the bearings or blades and had to remove the rivets. I tried a hammer and punch and the hydraulic press. Maybe I need to heat the casting on the outside near each rivet or possibly drill each rivet out part way. Yes, I know I could buy the complete opener with bearings and hub assembled. Just wanting to save some $. Any ideas? Thanks.
