TF .... those Buda engines in the model 30's had a weak spot in the block casting I think, they all seemed to split in the same place when/if they froze up. There were a lot of 30's up here, and still are, and I've seen that same break a good number of times, and the patch system you mention. I wonder if it is possible that it was a location where some water was trapped even after draining. not sure?
