At around the time of this movie a friend was running a CIH dealership. He told me one day about a JD vs CIH test on a race track. At the time there was a horse racing track in the area. They held races in some pretty cold weather, and they had to keep the track from freezing. To do this they had a cultivator that they pulled around and around the track. They needed to replace the tractor and my friend was invited to bid on it with a specific sized CIH. They had to perform a demonstration on the track. So his tractor pulled up against the JD at the start line. They went for an hour or more with the CIH slowly pulling away from the JD, getting further and further away. The JD driver tried going up a gear but he didn't have adequate torque rise and after a little bit he would have to go back down two gears to get his RPMs back up so he lost a lot of ground to the JD. They finally stopped them before he could lap the JD.
