Check the free pedal adjustment first. That is the external adjustment where the arm clamps onto the shaft that goes into the clutch housing. When you press the pedal down to the point where the throw out bearing contacts the clutch fingers, there should be 1/8 inch between the arm and the housing. A little change has a big affect.
