Well WELCOME TO N/E OHIO , don't like the weather at this moment just wait will give ya something different in short order That is one reason your studded snow tires don't have to come off till April 15th. And why us OLD guys don't get to excited about the first warm up. I have seen years that we had oats in the ground by the end of Feb. ( but that was back in 70 and we had a good chunk of the corn ground plowed and BAM winter returned big time . what was it like 94 my buddy and i left one morning at 3 Am to go to a sale out in Hoosier land and they were calling for this here Blizzard coming out of the east . When i left the house at about a quarter after 2 and run over to Mr. Donut for a coffee and two gut bombs it had not yet started . But when i walked out of Mr. Do nut it had started . By the time it took to go about 9 miles the roads were getting covered and when i pulled in my buddy's place we had around 2 inches on the ground . He had his brand new Dodge pick up setting there running and i could see him in the house running around gathering up his FOUL WEATHER GEAR i had pulled up behind his truck and was setting there when he came out and i told him just shut your truck off we will take mine today Mine was a one ton four wheel drive and for some reason i figured we would need it before the day was done. We ran out of the snow around Wooster and had clear dry running all the way out to the sale . But shortly after we got to the sale things changed fast . The wind and cold was slicing thru Carrheart artic wear and it was even hard to stand in the wind Donnie and i had on every piece of clothes plus rain suits to cut the wind . by 4:30 we had had enough of SALEING , i gave don my check book and he went up to settle up while i grabbed the loader tractor and loaded up small stuff for weight , i loaded 2000# of I H ft. weights a stack of wheel weights and three rear blades and the rest would go on the semi's and we were out of there half froze . Stopped at the iron Skillet for supper at Richmond and called home to find out that my drive at the house was level full of snow to the top of the hedges and around the garage and turn around it was waist deep. we stopped a London for fuel and had to lock the ft hubs in and use four wheel drive to get out of the fuel stop . We want to go up 42 BUT NO it was blocked with semi's that ran off the road and got tangled up . Come in to Columbus to go up around on 270 and once off 70 and getting down onto 270 you could not even find 270 , the snow was bumper deep on a 88 F 350 and it was third gear and work for it . Once on 71 here again ya had to do some creative driving . From the time we got on 71 there was me a New Dodge 3500 one ton 4x4 welding truck and a Ford areostar van behind him To get around some of the drifts we used the grass in the middle and when we got to US 30 if ya did not know the road you would have never found it . Never saw a snow plow till we got to East Canton . dropped off my buddy and had more trouble after i dropped him off then the whole trip and that was April 5th . Local natives around the house this year were getting all excited and doing yard work some mowing grass and me NAH winter has not left us just yet here hold my beer and watch this. So don't go and burn your winter coat just yet.
