People's feet have been so ignored. When I see sloppy wear or flip flops and Crocs I cringe. I have had to wear arch supports since 1966. I came home from work one morning (I was working midnights at Ford) and my feet, legs and back all then way to my neck hurt so much, I crawled on my hands and knees to get into the house. It was then, after a visit to my doctor, that I started wearing Dr Scholls with the steel plates under a leather pad. Later, the Dr Scholls were a firm foam pad under a leather pad. Later again, I got fitted with custom arch supports through a podiatrist. I still have the latter two, custom made and Dr. Scholls. My everyday all day are the custom supports. The Scholls are in slippers or sometimes a dress shoe (when I know that I won't be standing or doing much walking) Now, I also have neuropathy from the chemo that I had 6 years ago. I can walk and stand, but not for long periods. Lastly, my everyday casual dress or work shoes are New Balance tennis shoes. I also have several pair of SAS shoes (San Antonio Shoe). And I found a pair of deck shoes at Cabela's that I use as slippers.

This story is about the day my Grandfather Brown (true name) decided along with my parents to purchase a new Ford tractor. It wasn't really new except to us. The year was about 1967 and my father found a good used Ford 601 tractor to use on the farm instead of "Bob", our old mule. Now my grandfather had had this mule since the mid 40's and he was getting some age on him. S
