I don't like Roundup for a number of reasons but I would bet that it has no bearing on whether the deer eat what you plant or not.I put in right many deer plots for myself and for others.I plant Crimson Clover,Sweet Clover,Hairy vetch, turnip mix late August.Any weed most any other plants that come in will get killed at the 1st frost.Turnips will Winter kill most times here(Central VA) the rest will over Winter and come up and grow strong in the Spring/early Summer then bloom do their thing honey bees, turkeys all love it. Crimson Clover will choke out about anything else until it dies in July, then I disk the plot about every two weeks to kill weeds/work in organic matter before planting again in late August.I also over seed Spring oats(just buy a bag of oats at TSC)about the last of Sept,it'll root in and grow like crazy and deer love it also Winter kills most times. The deer love the mix too BTW.
