7014 is for flat clean welds. It's a drag rod so you tap the rid on the metal and drag it along as apposed to raising it to create the arc. That makes it very easy to use and get a good bead. It would be a good rid for this. 6011 is the old standby and an excellent rod. It does handle dirty metal better and penetrate better. With your welder being taxed for this the extra penetration might be helpful. However, a good weld with any rod is better than a poor weld with any rod. 6011 is harder to use than either 7014 or 6013 so therefore be careful. Most will say 6013 is not as good but it's easier to use than 6011 and can be used in all positions. The truth is that very few people on this site have either the skills or equipment to make use of the differences in rods, so choose the one that works best for you and go to work.
