Neither of those fuels can replace a cooling system unless it's for a very intermittent, specific or racing application. The alcohol fuels typically need real high compression to be efficient or worthwhile. Static compression ratios around 14:1 or so, or maybe 10:1 with forced induction. They also need around or more than twice as much fuel as gasoline, most carb or injected engines will either need specific carbs/injectors or modified parts for that much extra fuel.
