Crazy Horse, our tractor pull must be high class then, we get metal trophies! Lol, just ribbing you. One of the reasons I like pulling with my Oliver 990 - it sounds fast, but its not going to hurt anybody in stock form. Except maybe hearing, but hey, I did my part and put the muffler back on it! :lol:
To the OP - to each their own. Personally, what I like most about the old Masseys, is not what they can pull with huge RPM, but what they can pull with the last few hundred RPM. Surprisingly potent luggers, those 4 cylinder Masseys.
The other posters have better explained the process of making a puller than I can. I will say though, there is a very good reason for all the safety cages/shields on super-modified pullers. For every piece of safety equipment/rule, someone has a been hurt or killed. Bear that in mind.
