I don't know if anyone is still following this thread, but here's a shot.
I have an early 60s Lincoln SA200 and was not firing after sitting for several years. It was running when it got parked, so I know that much is in good shape. I took the magneto off, checked everything, and lined the C up on the timing gear with the mark on the smaller gear and now after I put everything back together and set the rotar at the 4 o'clock position, the hearing the back in straight up and down, not crossways as I understood it should be. And I have no spark anywhere, but I know it's putting out power because when I turned the gear on the back my left hand was against the coil tab and it bit me wnough to know that it's hot. What have I don't wrong?
