I grew up using an 8n and did a lot of plowing with it. When plowing the small lever under the seat should be horizontal, and vertical when doing anything else. When plowing what I always felt was that lift had less lifting power when the small lever was horizontal(draft mode), in the lower range of motion of the actual lift lever. In other words the lift won't barely raise anything of weight until the lift lever is about 2" from the top of its range. It does this to slightly lift the plow while in the ground to add traction/weight to the rear tires, and to keep the plow the same consistent depth while plowing with minimal movement of the lift control lever. If you move the lift lever about 2" down the plow will fall almost suddenly. The next bit of downward motion of the lever the plow will act like it is trying to raise but won't. That is how it supposed to work. In your case something is out of adjustment, and I can only guess what. I would see if the lift lever is slipping as you move it thru its range of motion. There is a friction disc on the base of the lever and I don't know but would wonder if the lever has rotated/slipped on its shaft behind the disc. As others said ask on the 8n discussion forum on here. Mark.

My dad dreamed that some day he would have his own tractor with every implement he could get. When he rea
