We are in a beautiful retirement area west of Phoenix and when we had a new home built three years ago we were told that the taxes would be about one percent of what the home will cost. So far in the three years they have been less than the one percent. You can plan according to your means here, if you want to spend more money they have more house to sell you. It's kind of like boats and airplanes. If you have more money they have more boat or airplane to sell you. All the homes in this part of the valley are new with new schools, fire departments, police forces, highways etc. I remember my Dad saying seventy years ago that the government would tax the air you breath if they could just figure out how to meter it. They now have a lot of us filtering it so maybe the next thing will be the meter.
