I knew a fella who replaced his OEM safety starter switch with a key switch (the OEM switch cannot be depressed for starting WITH the tractor in gear). He was in a hurry to start the tractor one day. Without sitting on the seat he turned the key, unaware that the tractor was in gear.
That lil ole 8N started up and ran right over him. It took him just shy of 6 months to die from the injuries.
