Loren. Looks like the good old hands have gone! Yes,,. at the very least to planting the fields . Well i got very Lucky .All is fine Now . My 1070 was parked in 2017 outside along the drive with a presumed cracked head . since i was down in my legs ,It was not touched til tuesday,. It Started right up with a Jump Box which was no surprise. i was Surprised that it was smoothly firing on all , without bub'ling the radiator . I think the pump took a while to prime up . Transmission would not engage any powershift positions, But The ranges would grind like normal . Finally heard a welcome sound , Sadly as i let out the clutch it would labor the engine to indicate trouble. Range in neutral all was Ok ,.i pumped brakes , worked 3 pt. and got the steering to come to life . also overfilled the tranny by a gallon or more. Next Day Started up and Got reverse . Forward would stall the engine . Moved lumber from behind the tractor til nitefall and left the 1070 be.Thursday Morning Started the 1070 . shifted range to low reverse . heard the familiar whines and sounds and eased backwrds .I steered , and braked , and lowered the 3 pt , after 300 ft or more i tried forward at idle , It still wanted to stall the engine . i must have drove a mile or more in reverse in every range at all engine speeds including 4th reverse which is road gear on this early 1070 BACKWARDS .. LOL . while backing up a steep incline at idle in low range a i punched the clutch and rolled back down each time trying forward , after about the tenth time i detected a slight tinge , and the ol Boy was moving forward in Low Low .. after 100 ft or so i tried 2 then back to 1st then back to second and then up to third ,after i got back tothe barn lot i tried reverse , everything worked as normal , And i finally breathed a sigh of relief..Today it works perfect ,,.. I feel like i dodged a bullet .
