All of my tractors have had rusted rims on one or both sides. First one fixed was my Ferguson. I bought a new rim and stupidly threw the bad one away. The second to get fixed was my JD 2010. Is has 36” power adjust rims that are basically unavailable. So, I had a local guy weld in a patch I cut from an auto rim and hammered into the correct profile and diameter. Then I got smart and bought a used rim and now exclusively cut patches and have them welded in once I cut out the rust areas. It works great and has probably saved an easy $1500. My last 2 repairs I did 100% of the liquid removal, tire work, new tubes and new calcium. I spent at least 8 hours but easily saved $500 in tire service expense. My time isn’t free but 2 things to consider: it takes more time earning that money farming. And I try to do the repairs in the off seasons.
