I rotary hoe about 800 acres/yr. I need the hoe for the custom organic farming I do for neighbor so I use it on mine as well. I will hoe until corn is about 2" tall. After that start in with the cultivator. If the weeds are up the hoe won't get them. To late. Hoe the crop every 5 days until it is 2". Even if the weeds are up run over it with the hoe because you will get the weeds that would come up tomorrow. I'm lucky. I can practice mechanical weed control on my neighbors to figure out what works on mine. I plant Liberty tolerant crops so I can always save myself if it gets away from me. I am not organic but I try to use as little chemical as possible. Don't know if it is harmful but figure the chemicals are not helping our water pollution. That's just my opinion. You-all can think what you want.
