I want to get a hydraulic top link for my Ford 860. I have installed an HV4901 adapter plate that I got from here and external control valve.
I have discovered two types of top links are typically available. One is just a double acting cylinder the other type has a double-piloted check valve that is supposed to keep the cylinder from drifting.
The simple double acting cylinder is a bit over $100. The type with the check valve is more that twice that amount. My experience with hydraulics is that cylinders drift if the control valve is worn, OR if the internal piston seal is worn. I am thinking the external check valve cannot stop drift from an internal cylinder leak, and a new control valve would not be much more than the check valve IF, that ever became a problem.
