Far from an expert but I think the disadvantage of hydro is that it takes some of your HP to run it and you need to run at pto engine speed all the time. May need a longer warm up before operating in cold weather too? I just put Cat 1 pins on my rear blade to be able to use it with the Kubota and I only use it for loader work, the blade, and blower. Also I fibbed...my blower is a 60 inch, not a 72, but deep, wet snow takes a lot of hp or super slow speed (creeper really)in my experience and my low reverse is too fast. I like the gear drive fine for everything but snow but if you do a lot of loader work, a hydro is a bit easier there too.
